Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ann.philpott@homecomfortearcare.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Clinically known as Cerumen, wax is produced inside your ears to keep them clean and free of germs. It’s one of the body’s natural defences. It usually exits the ears harmlessly without you knowing, but sometimes too much wax can build up and block the eardrum. If left untreated, it can lead to impaction which can cause difficulty with hearing and pain.

Impacted wax can’t be effectively treated without specialist support.

    Hairpins or objects
“Ear candles” (not effective or safe)

  • Do I need to do anything after treatment?

You may be advised to:

  • Keep ears dry for a short time
  • Avoid inserting anything into the ear
  • Monitor for symptoms
