Using a digitised or manual otoscope, you will receive an examination of your ears to determine if wax is present and likely causing your reduced hearing. Even if only one ear appears to be causing you a problem, both ears will be examined as per best clinical practice (no extra cost).
A full clinical history will be taken and the most appropriate method of wax removal will be discussed prior to consenting.
You may be required to administer ear wax softening oil, using pharmaceutical grade olive oil, if the wax appears very dry or impacted. This is for your safety and comfort during procedure.
You may need to rebook your appointment to have the wax removed, allowing for the oil to soften appropriately.
Otoscopy will be conducted before and after wax removal. Ongoing ear health advice will be provided.
If there's no wax present or your ears appear abnormal in any way, you will be advised to seek review via your GP. You will have the option to visualise inside the ear via a digitial otoscope at no extra cost. A report can be produced for your GP, with your consent, if required.
